God Save My Marriage

How to get rid of Arrested Development - Plain & Simple

Recommended Posts

Deuteronomy 24:5

"When a man is newly married, he is not to be drafted into military service or any other public duty; he is to be excused from duty for one year, so that he can stay at home and make his wife happy."

This is soo important to God that he made it a national law! God is great!

No higher priority than to please your wife. Not even to defend your own country if under attack - wow!

Die to your own desires and make your wife happy.

So there you have it, God just told you how to bond with your wife and build a solid foundation for your marriage.

As Joel and Kathy say, "Happy wife, Happy life."

This ministry teaches THE way - HIS way!

I have actually heard a few AMAZING courtship stories where the new hubby is so "set" financially that he actually took the first year off from work to focus all of his attention on his new bride. WoW! What a solid foundation to start from, ya know?

That doesn't mean that they lived in luxury by the world's standards either. They just had all their needs met so that he could begin at a much faster rate, to dwell in understanding w/ his new bride!

If ya can't tell, this is a topic that's close to my heart. I have actually believed for years that we would be able to allow our newlywed children to stay free of charge in our "cute little garage apartment" or second home. (One or both are on the way!)

Thanks for sharing.  For most of our marriage I met my needs first and gave whatever I had left to my wife - so WRONG!  It was not until I found this ministry I really began to understand how we as men are the initiators and our wives respond accordingly.  I was telling a friend last night, using a sport analogy, we have to throw the first pitch out to start the game.  We keep pitching until we connect with our wives.  As Joel wrote in the first book dying to self initially is hard, but the more we do it the easier it becomes.  Guys get on board and apply these principles right away and you will be thankful for it, becoming more Christlike and in turn winning your wife's heart.
