hey everyone,

 

we know we're hardly ever on the forum ~ we're phone people ~ but we just wanted to touch base and give a bit of an update on how things are going in our marriage. actually, it feels strange to even write something since how we are now is just that - how we are and we don't give how we used to be together much thought anymore because it seems so long ago and foreign to us.

 

four years ago we found this ministry and without a doubt, our marriage is night and day from what it was back then. it was absolutely difficult and kind of scary in the beginning ~ for both of us ~ but the more we learned and the more we stayed plugged in to the help we received from so many, the more we were able to see light at the end of the tunnel.

 

what does our marriage look like and what have we learned personally since walking this out?

 

 

a husband plays an enormous role in the health and success of his marriage and God has gifted him with the precious task of giving his wife back to Him better than when he received her.

 

michael really was clueless as to how he was treating me and it took me about a year to really get the truth of this.

 

our abnormal was our normal and that's what we were living out of. because of this, God's normal felt abnormal for a long time so walking this out felt really strange and uncomfortable at first.

 

michael isn't a mind reader. i have to tell him what i need and show him what that looks like so that he'll know how to show up for me.

 

we needed to believe in each other even when it was hard not to.

 

setting boundaries doesn't mean "i don't love you" or "i'm rejecting you"

 

one day at a time. one day at a time. one day at a time. thinking ahead to what might happen (as in past stuff being repeated) only set us both up for failure.

 

in addition to being husband and wife, we are also brother and sister in Christ (this has been a huge revelation to us!)

 

 

so we continue on. learning, loving, growing. we still run into snags every now and then but the biggest difference now is that we don't stay there. we work together to get through them based on everything we've learned so far, based on who we are and who we're becoming together. one.

Michael and Annalea also conduct Weekend Marriage Intensives in California and in Washington (state of Washington). Their October intensive in Washington is full - and our October intensive in Florida is full! 7 couples in Washington and 7 couples in Florida! One couple is going to California from Canada and one couple is coming to Florida from Canada. Another couple is coming from the United Kingdom to Florida in October!
