MaryJane
Here is a message I sent to Dory last night: Thanks Dory! "Joe's" doing real well. I'm very happy! He's the one picking up the book to read every day. I'm so impressed! We had trouble last week when he stumbled into a 2-day depression. He thought all the changes in his life were just too hard to implement. (ie. getting older, having to decide how to retire from farming, dying to self, etc.) I cried a lot, mostly in private. Then I "remembered" that I'm stronger and braver nowadays! I went into the den where he was reading Louis L'Amour, plunked myself down and stayed there until we had talked enough to clear the air. In the old days, I would have been too scared to even THINK of doing such a thing! This new way of being married is absolutely refreshing! Life-giving! God is SO Good! MaryJane
A nice little incident happened today. After my husband finished our 10 minute reading in Book 2, he got up from his chair and came over toward me. I thought he was going to kiss me or something. No. He said something about laying down his life for his wife. Then... He lay down on the floor at my feet! Isn't that great? Funny and romantic, both! dory
Funny to imagine. Especially after hearing him on the phone lines, I also don't imagine him a spring chicken. Did you help him back up??? Or use the opportunity to tickle him like crazy? LOL!
MaryJane
Well, we used the opportunity -- but I can't tell you how! I only pretended to help him up. There's no way I actually could! He's a broad-shouldered man, mostly muscle and bone! He got himself up. He's 64, I'm 61. Sometimes we feel like spring chickens... MaryJane
Oh my. Looney Tunes and Carmine, this is almost as good as getting the flowers! My idea is, that if he was willing to spend good money on roses for me which will not last, in order to help make our marriage last, I'm happy. It told me something! MaryJane
Just re-read the above posts. They're all pretty cheery. We HAVE had big huge washouts on our road to an OHM, no mistake about it! However, our marital "Cadillac" is still moving FORWARD, I'm happy to report. Someday I'll post a proper praise report. Right now, I'm putting up a text we just received from our daughter-in-law. She gave me permission to do so. I was congratulating her and our youngest son on their recent 2nd wedding anniversary. They live 800 miles from us. They are both almost 23. Here is her reply (the part I want you to hear): Thank you for the prayers. Having Christ at the center of our marriage is so important to us. (Our Son 4) has been an amazing husband so far and always honors me and takes care of me. I am blessed! Can't help thinking you had something to do with that, so thanks for raising such a great man! And giving us that red book.

MaryJane
She told me awhile ago that she thinks because they read your books, they don't have arguments like their friends do.
